Shooting Competitions
A BB gun is typically used for a competitive shooting event. It has properly been identified by the authorities like, the National Rifle Association. The association has a youth shooting program that specially recognizes the smoothbore BB guns to be used by young people from the age of 8 to 15, for competitive events.
Youth Groups
The BB guns are popular with a number of youth groups. These groups include the Boy Scouts of America as well as the 4H.
Quick Kill Training
The U.S. Army has always used the bb guns to improve their soldiers’ target shooting skills. The recruits were given with a couple of BB guns to improve their Quick Kill techniques. It helped the soldiers improve their performance with a variety of weapons in the Vietnam War from the years 1967-1973.

Caring for the BB guns

• It is important to only use the high quality BBs in the BB guns. This is because the low quality ones are not designed to be safe and hence can get stuck in the gun’s barrel or the internal mechanism.
• The users should never try to reuse the old BBs in the BB guns. This is because they can damage the BB gun’s interior.
• It is very important to keep the BB guns lubricated. This is because; whenever the BB is released through the guns’ barrel it causes a lot of friction inside the gun. This can only be taken care of by ensuring proper lubrication. The lubrication can be done using a silicon-based lubricant which is easily available in the market.
Be safe while using a BB gun

• It is important to keep the finger off of the trigger till the time you have to fire. It helps in avoiding any accidental gunfire.
• Always wear a protective eyewear or a protective face mask.
• The BBs may ricochet; hence make sure that you do not fire at flat surfaces or the wet surfaces. Also never shoot at a target which is at an angle.
• Make sure that the BB gun is not damaged or dirty. This is because such guns are most likely to cause an injury.
• One thing about being safe with a BB gun safety, which is often overlooked by a lot of people, is that only new ammo should be used in a BB gun. This is because it does not cause any degradation and is very safe.
