Operating mechanism of bb guns

Air guns use different types of operating mechanisms. Likewise bb guns also use different types of operating mechanisms. But bb guns have limited range and accuracy. Therefore less expensive and simpler mechanisms are used in bb guns. BBs used in the bb guns are made of steel. Therefore all the bb guns use magnets in their loading mechanisms. BB is too hard to be swaged to the size of the bore of a bb gun. Hence magnets are used to hold the bb at the back or rear of the barrel if otherwise bb may roll out of the barrel. The most common mechanism for a bb gun is still spring piston based. It is patterned after a pump action or lever action rifle. Lever action mechanism still dominates the BB gun market. Moreover multi-pump pneumatic guns are also very common. It is a cheaper alternative to use BBs. These guns have barrels same like that of a rifle. But the undersized and hard BBs don’t obdurate to fit the barrel. This type of bb guns can have much higher speed than the traditional bb guns based on spring piston mechanism.
