BB guns are one of the most widely used guns for the purpose of shooting and hunting. People in different parts of the world are using this kind of gun but still many people do not know from where the gun had its name. Earlier it was said that the gun is a ball bearing gun and thus named BB gun. However, this is not true and there, lies some other reason for bring it called as BB gun. The actual reason why these guns are called BB guns is they contain BB sized pellets broadly; pellets were used in different sizes like B and BBB. However, the size of pellets used in these guns was between these standard dimensions and thus BB came up as their name. The size of pellets being used in BB guns has changed with time. In today’s time, BB guns contain pellets of size 0.177 inches or 4.5mm. In addition, material used for making these BBs is steel that is different from the material used in earlier times. In those times, lead was used for making of BBs.
