The BB gun which was introduced in the year of 1938 is hugely popular in America and its production also continues on a large scale owing to its popularity. It is a kind of air gun which has been designed for shooting projectile. The name BB gun is given after a birdshot pellet which is approximately similar to it in terms of size. The projectiles used in the BB guns are generally of a spherical shape but at the same time it is also pointed. The BB guns are usually used for hunting birds. Nowadays the BB guns are much advanced as they have smooth bore barrel which has bore diameter and a caliber of 4.5mm. At present the BB guns are made of steel and have a coating of either Copper or zinc. The plating prevents the gun from corrosion. At present the usual measurement of a bb gun is about 0.173 inches in diameter. There are a few manufacturers of lead balls who make it large in diameter so that it can be used barrels of rifled BB guns.
