Safety is the primary concern when handling or using any gun. The same principles that apply to proper handling of real guns also apply to handling of a BB gun. Any person who is using a BB gun must adhere to the three cardinal principles of gun safety at all times.
The first principle is “ The gun is always loaded.” It is very important to treat your gun every time as if it is loaded. Even if you are aware that the gun is not loaded, it should be assumed as such because any mistake with the gun can cause many problems.
The second principle is “Finger off the trigger.” Unless you are absolutely ready to shoot, you must keep your finger away from the trigger. This is to ensure that you do not accidentally pull the trigger. Even if the trigger is pulled while the gun is empty, it might damage the hammer.
The third principle of BB gun safety is “Point the gun to the ground.” Never ever point the gun towards something or or someone you do not want to hurt, and this includes yourself! Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
